Great news for all the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 310 (Galaxy Tab 2 7.0) users in India! The South Korean giants have just released the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for India. The update is currently available via Samsung Kies and should also released OTA in the days to come.
The 4.1.2 update brings new features like Smart Stay, which is an eye-tracking feature that automatically turns off the display as the user looks away from the device. It’s done by using the front camera of the device. Also, Group Play, a feature found in recently launched Samsung Galaxy S4 has been added in this update. This feature allows you to transfer/view/play multimedia content with other users by a simple tap over Wi-Fi. Although the version released for the Galaxy Tab 2 310 is very limited in features and only allows sharing of music, documents and images to other supported Samsung devices. Also reviews are that the famous multi-window feature isn’t a part of this update. The update also brings in a few performance improvements.

Samsung had earlier rolled out the Android 4.1.1 update for Galaxy Tab 2 310 in December last year, which brought Google Now, improved notifications, an updated UI, Project Butter performance improvements as well as Pop-up Play, blocking mode, Pause function in the video camera and more to the tablet.

There have been reports over the web claiming that Galaxy Tab 2 lineup of tablets will receive only till Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and will not support Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Yet it’s good to see Samsung providing timely updates to its products, even the ones in the budget categories. Also, with Google Nexus 7 available in now for Rs 15,999, Samsung has to keep its customers satisfied when it comes to updating to the latest Android version.
Alongside Galaxy Tab 2 310, the Samsung Galaxy Chat has also received the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, but as of now, it is only available in Spain, claims a SamMobile report. The OTA upgrade will reportedly boost the performance and battery life of the smartphone.
