Micromax was expected to launch a quad-core version of its Canvas smartphone based on Android’s latest version 4.1 Jelly Bean. And thats just what Micromax A116 Canvas HD is all about. Priced at Rs. 14,999 , the device would go on sale on 1st week of February and will be available via all the major retailers across India, as well as all the major online stores.
Bettering the earlier versions of Canvas, Micromax A116 Canvas HD has got a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and that would be a 16 million clear IPS display with a better graphics output than its previous Canvas models. As far as the hardware specs are concerned, the Canvas HD is powered by the 1.2GHz Quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor supported by 1GB of RAM and Android 4.1 JellyBean out of the box. The processor is a Cortex A7 SoC.
Though the great display and a strong processor, Micromax could have done better with the battery capacity of 2100 mAh. The storage can be expanded to the maximum of 32GB via microSD card, although the internal memory is unconfirmed. The A116 has got an 8 megapixel camera on the rear side, assisted with an LED flash and having autofocus. The phone comes with some dedicated Micromax apps such as the M Buddy, M Store, M! SMS, M! Zone and few others apart from the standard Google based applications which are seen in every Android smartphone.
